What height is it without the lid?
Answer: From the base to the rim is 4.25 inches or 10.8 cm. But if you need to know how high it stands above the saucepan it sits on this is 2 inches for an 8 inch pan, 2.5 inches for a 7.25 inch pan and nearly 3.5 inches for a 6.5 inch pan. -

Will this work with the Vista drainer saucepans?
Answer: Yes, it sits in all my saucepans. It is a very good product which gets much use. -

Is it stainless steel?
Answer: No, after 1 wash there was rust at the inside. -

Can you cook more than one type of veg at a time?
Answer: Yes, of course. Just chop them up and pop them in. The only thing to keep an eye on is that some veg take less time to be cooked than others - just the same as if you boil them - so first put the ones that take longer, then bung in the others a bit later. But no prob at all mixing them up. Steaming is just like boiling them, except that they cook in hot water (i.e steam) without leaching out all their goodness into the water. IMHO steaming seems to be a bit faster, too. Enjoy! -

Does it fit a 2pt plastic pudding basin?
Answer: I have a stoneware basin which is 10cm tall x 17.5cm in circumference and it fits my Horwood HX12 steamer, so I guess a plastic basin would fit too. -

Has anyone else found that the handle on the lid gets very hot whilst in use or is it just mine?
Answer: The lid on my steamer gets warm but I have not noticed it becoming too hot to touch!! -

What is the width of the bottom-most ring?
Answer: The outside diameter is 15.5 cms which fits a saucepan with an inside diameter of 16 cms; hence 16 x 18 x 20 being the three saucepan sizes it fits. -

Is this article coated? I am looking for a stainless steel model on both outside and inside.
Answer: Don't buy. The inside gets rust after 1-2 washes. -
Question:
Can you steam a sponge pudding?
Answer: Yes, that's what I use it for. Doesn't take a very large bowl though. Standard steamed sponge mixture fine but if you want to do a double quantity the bowl won't fit in. -
Question:
Does this work on induction stove?
Answer: You don't put this directly onto a stove. You slot it into a pan and the steam rises through the holes in the bottom of the steamer. If you have a pan that works on an induction stove and the steamer fits into, then it will work fine.
