Answer: Yes, the M2 microphone comes with an effective windscreen that not only protects the capsule but also helps reduce plosives. -

Do you need phantom power?
Answer: No you do NOT use phantom power with a dynamic mic. You can only use a cloudlifter or a fethead. Do your research before you spend $99 and fry your mic by using phantom power on it. -
Question:
My pa has phantom power. can i plug it directly into the pa?
Answer: Phantom power is used to provide power to CONDENSER - type mics. The Rode mic I purchased is a DYNAMIC - type, and therefore doesn't require phantom power. Just plug it in your PA, set the gain correctly and go... Unless you have other condenser mics plugged in you won't need to switch on the phantom power. -
Question:
which is better for recording songs, this one or the shure sm57?
Answer: The Rode M2 and Shure SM57 are both typically used for recording instruments or live sound applications for instruments. The SM57 is a very popular drum mic, for instance. I use the Rode for close micing acoustic guitar and in front of amplifiers for electric and bass.
