However, it does fall short of comprehensive coverage, as it primarily focuses on a potted history of the genre and not the bands themselves. The book structure incorporates major albums, types of prog, jazz, folk, kraut, neo, etc. The flaw in this book, according to some critics, is its attempt at covering the spectrum of bands evenly, which renders many hugely successful bands (such as Van der Graaf Generator/Peter Hammill, Barclay James Harvest, Camel, and Tangerine Dream) as barely mentioned.
