Answer: Haven't tried it with root beer, but it does work exactly as advertised for beer. -

Answer: It is not compatible with other handles other than the one it comes with. -

If you dont drink all can / growler, does the beer then go flat and stale inside the machine over time?
Answer: It's not meant to store ur beer. It will go flat just as if u left a open beer on a counter for a period of time.
