Answer: The hand set is very heavy just like the antique. The phone body is lighter than the original but is still heavy enough to stay put when dialing. It’s not necessary to hold the base while you dial. -

Answer: Hi. An area code is always needed on landlines. Also on your cellphone. Area codes began being used in the early 1990’s. -

Is this phone capable of voicemail?
Answer: It's just a phone, not an answering machine so if you get voicemail thru your phone provider and can access it using a regular phone then you'll be able to get it using this one but there is no voicemail notification alert like some cordless phones have. It does have a # and * key feature so you'll be able to dial into access your providers voicemail service if that is what you were asking about. -

I replaced my old Crossley with a new one, and the quality was terrible. Cheap plastic, lightweight. How is the materials quality?
Answer: The phone seems to be a thick plastic and also not lightweight. I really use the phone as decoration since my cell is my main phone. -
Question:
Can you turn the ringer off on this phone?
Answer: No, the phone will ring and you can push the button in the middle of the phone to answer or you can pick up the hand set but I know of no way to turn the ringer off.
