The Ghostshield Siloxa-Tek 8500 is a water repellent sealant used to protect masonry and concrete from damage, with a coverage of 250 square feet per gallon, requiring two coats. It is easy to apply with a brush, roller or pump sprayer, but may not work well with a roller because of the liquid's thin consistency. It does not change the appearance or sheen of the surface on which it is applied. It is effective in waterproofing and preventing water damage, but it does not provide slip resistance. The product cannot be used on painted concrete walls. It requires a concrete hardener, densifier, if used on poured concrete surfaces, prior to application. A sample test is recommended to check the adhesion on different surfaces. The reviews suggest that the product is easy to use, penetrates well and is effective in waterproofing concrete surfaces. It does not have any strong smell, and the sprayer is easy to wash after application. However, one review mentioned that the patio started leaking after one month, and the reviewer was not able to return the product as the return date had passed. Contractors have used this product for brick sealing and mortar work, and it did not leave any residue or discoloration.
