The flakes aren’t interchangeable with American red pepper flakes as these have a unique sweetness, smokiness, and depth. This product can be kept in the refrigerator for up to two years. There are different types of Gochugaru flakes, fine grind primarily for making gochujang or spicy gochu oil for soup or tteobokki sauce and coarse grind primarily for making kimchi and main dishes. Coarse grind Gochugaru flakes are more commonly used for making kimchi, as it has a different flavor and texture.
